It can take a lot of time and money to move furniture interstate, especially if you have a whole household of furniture and appliances that will need to be packed and then unpacked.
There are lower cost alternatives to hiring professional movers and here are some tips to keep in mind.
1. Hire a truck
There are plenty of hire-truck companies out there and modern trucks are usually easy to drive as most of them now feature automatic transmissions. You will need to load and unload your belongings, but you’ll save quite a bit of money, just not on time.
2. Sell and buy new ones
Sell all your furniture on eBay, Gumtree or facebook and buy new ones when you arrive at your new home. A good alternative for those without family heirlooms or valuable pieces of furniture.
3. Hire a trailer
If your vehicle has a tow bar, a hire trailer can be even cheaper than hiring a truck. Although the size of trailer may not be big enough for your needs.
